![]() While certain communities might take offense to that, and lay personal claim to that title, one can not argue that the Median series of mods has been very long lived (which wouldn’t happen without a devout enough playerbase), Plugy being the best way to experience OG Single Player, and newer mods such as PoD and PD2 as very well received amongst the non-devout OG Bnet players. Blizzard also sees the fact that D2 has received a decent chunk of popular mods over the years, as a reason D2 has stayed relevant and alive in modern times. However, if someone were to do these things with D2R, they would probably find cease and desist at their doorsteps. One of the main reasons many, including myself, still play D2 is for the private modding servers such as Path of Diablo, ProjectDiablo2, and Median just to name just a few. ![]() Many Diablo fans play both the OG mods and remastered version of the game. Blizzard said they are open to mods in D2R, which is a fantastic design. People that play these mod servers devoutly, would probably not even purchase or play D2R anyways. Blizzard would win nothing, and lose more than they would gain by doing something about mod servers of an old game. While technically, Blizzard could go after these mod servers, they have instead, embraced them.
